Tune in for a quick lesson on tune-ups!

Why Newer Vehicles Still Need Tune-Ups

Many people think modern cars don’t need tune-ups because they’re packed with computers and long-life parts. The truth is, newer vehicles still require regular tune-ups—just a more updated version of what we used to do.

          1. Modern Engines Are More Sensitive

Today’s engines rely on sensors for fuel, airflow, and ignition. When a sensor starts failing, performance and fuel economy drop. A modern tune-up checks and recalibrates these systems.

          2. Spark Plugs Still Wear Out

Even long-life spark plugs eventually break down. Replacing them on schedule prevents misfires, rough idling, and lower MPG.

          3. Fuel and Air Systems Get Dirty

Direct injection engines build up carbon, and dirty air filters or throttle bodies affect airflow. Cleaning these helps keep power and efficiency up.

          4. Fluids Don’t Last Forever

“Lifetime fluids” still degrade. Checking oil, coolant, transmission fluid, and brake fluid during a tune-up prevents expensive future repairs.

          5. Electronics Need Healthy Power

Weak batteries or bad connections can cause warning lights, stalling, or shifting issues. A tune-up ensures the electrical system is solid.

          In short:

Newer vehicles don’t need old-school tune-ups, but they do need modern preventive maintenance to stay efficient, reliable, and long-lasting.
